President of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), Walter Yeh, said that his country is keen to boost its relations with Islamic countries, especially in the economic fields.

In remarks at a meeting with a press delegation visiting Taiwan from several countries, including Jordan, Yeh said that there is a growing number of more than 500,000 Muslims in Taiwan, noting that according to local reports there is a continuous increase in the number of Halal-certified restaurants.

TAITRA helps local restaurants that serve Taiwanese dishes apply for "halal" certification to initialize a Muslim-friendly environment in Taiwan.
