- Lebanese demonstrators are protesting for the sixth day in a row against taxation and bad economic conditions in the heavily indebted country.

Protesters blocked most major intersections, roads and highways with burning tires and garbage, while schools, universities, banks and government institutions remain shuttered.

According to Petra's reporter in Beirut, new calls were made today for a sit-in in all areas, while dozens of protesters continued to demonstrate until dawn in downtown Beirut, Tripoli and other squares. An attempt was made by a group of people on motorcycles to sabotage the site of the sit-in in Martyrs Square in Beirut but they were confronted by the Lebanese army.
