Dozens of Jewish settlers, accompanied by former Israeli Agriculture Minister Uri Ariel and ultraorthodox rabbi Yehuda Glick, on Tuesday, broke into the al-Aqsa Mosque / Haram al-Sharif compound in occupied Jerusalem, a Palestinian source confirmed.

General Director of the Islamic Awqaf and al-Aqsa Affairs, Azzam al-Khatib, told Petra's reporter in Ramallah that settlers carried out the raid from the al-Magharebah Gate under the heavy protection of the Israeli police.

He said groups of settlers intruded into the holy compound and provocatively roamed the plaza, and were briefed on the alleged "Temple."
