The Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) carried out raids across the Kingdom, which resulted in the arrest of 29 individuals for drug-related cases.
The Public Security Department's spokesperson said in a statement on Tuesday that the AND's personnel dealt with six cases in the capital. Eight suspects were arrested, one of whom was a "dangerous and wanted" person who resisted arrest, attempted to flee, and fired shots at officers.
In Balqa, multiple raids were carried out and nine suspects were nabbed in possession of hashish, narcotic pills, synthetic cannabis powder, and opium.
Twelve people were apprehend in the Irbid, Zarqa, and Karak governorates, the spokesperson added, noting that various amounts of narcotics were seized.
The AND personnel received a tip-off on narcotics hidden in a desert area in the Mafraq governorate. A large bag containing 100,000 narcotic pills was found lodged between rocks, while in Aqaba police officers confiscated seven block of hashish and 7,000 narcotics pills hidden in an uninhabited area.
