40 new coronavirus cases reported in South Korea

South Korea's health authorities on Wednesday announced 40 new cases from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of infections to 11,265.

"The daily new virus cases marks the largest in 49 days," the Yonhap News Agency quoted the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC).
Some 36 of the new COVID-19 infections were recorded in the capital, Seoul, the health authorities indicated, noting that the death toll remained unchanged at 269.
